Aguero has impressed at Atleti in the first half of the season, graduating from substitute appearances into regular ones on the back of some strong displays.

However, the young Argentine insists that his best is yet to come, though he did express satisfaction with his progress thus far.

“I am happy at Atletico and I'm delighted because everything is working out better than I thought,” said Aguero. "I want to show my very best form for my new fans, to return to playing as I did in Argentina.

"I'm a stranger in Spain, but I am happy. I need five more months in Spain to reach my best form.”

Javier Aguirre – who sought to play down the fuss around Aguero’s signing earlier in the season – has also expressed great satisfaction with the way the youngster has made the transition from South American to European football.
