Allardyce: "Bolton Could Sign Beckham"
(Goal.com) - Sam Allardyce believes that David Beckham could be tempted to join Bolton Wanderers should he ever decide to leave Real Madrid.
The Trotters' boss threw his club's hat into the ring as the future of the English midfielder continues to be unknown as he his contract in Spain runs out at the end of the current campaign.
"Bolton Wanderers would love to sign David Beckham, of course we would, " Allardyce told Wanderers TV.
"In the past when that sort of name has been attached to this club, people considered it as something that was never going to happen.
"But cast your mind back to Youri Djorkaeff. People scoffed and said he would never come to play for Bolton but he came.
"So did Bruno N'Gotty, Ivan Campo and Fernando Hierro - we've attracted some fabulous players to the club.
"I am not saying that is going to get us Beckham but if it could, I would love it."
Madrid president Ramón Calderón has said that he believes that Beckham will sign a new deal, but until he does speculation continues to grow about where he would move to.
The United States is one destination that has been touted with Alex Ferguson statng that his former player would never play for another English side because of his love of Manchester United.
Allardyce is sceptical that Beckham will leave the Santiago Bernabéu because he, and wife Victoria, enjoy living in Madrid.
"I don't think David is considering leaving Real Madrid," he continued.
"He wants to do well and fight for his place because I know how much he loves the club and how much he loves Spain."
