Blatter Wants Summer Leagues

(Goal.com) - The president of Fifa, Sepp Blatter, is proposing a change to the seasonal pattern of European leagues so that the fixture list runs through the summer months.

Blatter told Germany's Kicker magazine that he'd like the season to begin in late February and end in November.

He said: "I've just proposed to the clubs: play through the summer.

"This would leave enough time for players to recover and there could be blocks of three weeks of national teams' qualifying games in winter."

He added: "This idea is supported by big European clubs."

He also believes that to ease fixture congestion further, there should be more European groups, each comprising fewer teams, for World Cup qualifying.

Blatter feels this will involve national teams having to play fewer matches, something the big clubs have been advocating.

The man has completely lost the plot. Time for new leadership.

Yeah,if he wants to play in empty stadiums...

I agree with both of you. As it stands I think professional players already play too many games & that's why they end up with so many injuries. Blatter in reality just want's to make more money at the expense of the players. He needs to be replaced.

I fail to take this man seriously since his comment on female players wearing shorter shorts to enhance their game. What we need is a new president, who can make solid rule changes to enhance the offence in the game. How about changing the free kick rule,(no player wall allowed in the penalty area), or corner kicks and free kicks being added to extra time. We need a president who can make these tough changes for the betterment of the game. I am not asking for wholesale rule changes, just something for the fans for once,
instead of short shorts, summer schedules and boring 0-0 games.

Anybody who is the head of a soccer governing body and then fails to present the world cup trophy to the world cup winner definitely loses my vote.

Blatter looks like he eat's with Tubbo Ronaldo. More games being played means more money for FIFA. Which means Blatter has more cash to burn in junk food joints with his chubby washed up player friend Ronaldo.

Speaking of FIFA it should be run by some Great American from the good old USA! The back water Euro Trash have been running it long enough & just like America has to police the world & fight everybodys' wars for them it's just as well they take over FIFA & clean up soccer.

yeah, like american poltics are clean and not corrupt. everything they do is built on lies. thats the problem, americans think they have to step in and police everyone, mind your own bloody business and police yourselves, if you'd do that the world wouldn't be in such a mess. sam, reading your comment makes me sick to my stomach.

I'm not anti american--I'm anti bully

giova, I'm think the comment by "Sam Adams" was a complete parody post. I would take it as seriously as the post right above it talking about Tubbo Ronaldo in junk food joints.

I do agree with your anti-bully statement, but I don't think FIFA needs any help from Americans with that so long as Sepp is there with the #1 priority of whoring the game for as much as money as possible.

Hey now it's not our fault the rest of the world cant seem to run their own countries. Thats where America comes into educate them! I laugh reading all these anti America comments from people that live in America because it offers them a better way of life than they could find in their own countries. This giova person I bet lives in America am I right? Anyway America should take control of FIFA as we are the best at everything. Turn soccer into a mans sport for once!

no I don't live in the us
