Silva Won’t Let Circumstances Rule
(Soccer365.com) - Despite having his left leg amputated, former Uruguay strike star Dario Silva is keeping his competitive fire well lit, with an Olympic rowing berth as his new objective.
The former Málaga and Portsmouth man was injured in a September auto accident, and amputation was the only choice.
Not one to dwell on the negative, Silva has set his sights on returning to the world stage.
"It's true," he declared. "I want to compete in the Olympic Games."
"I don't know yet whether to compete in Beijing 2008, I still have time to decide."
"I still have one year to recover fully," added Silva. "I'm training, but I think it is very probable and maybe I can compete in London 2012."

that's cool that he's not giving up, but that seems to be very arrogant of him to assume that he can just fit right into a sport when there are professionals that have been doing it their whole life...does he have any history in rowing competitions?

Not givin up is admirable, once an athlete, always an athlete. I'm sure he's not taking things for granted, his competitive edge will keep him going.

Dario Silva shows great courage and integrity in pressing on in the sports field. He'll succede like Alex Zanardi and be an example to all.
