Adu – Third Time Still A Charm
(Soccer365.com) - Fresh from grabbing two goals and an assist as the U.S. Under-20 National Team booked their place in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup, playmaker Freddy Adu admitted his role has evolved as he prepares for his third world championship at the level.
The attacker was often used wide in 2003 and 2005, but now runs the show from the #10 slot.
“I have to be in tune to the game at all times,” Adu told USSoccer.com. “I can’t take plays off, I’ve got to set an example for the rest of the guys and I feel like I did that this tournament.”
“Thomas (Rongen) is a great coach and let’s me be me out there,” said the Real Salt Lake star.
“He lets me take chances, and when I do that, that’s when I’m at my best, and that’s what I did today."
