Messi Set For February Return
(Goal.com) - Lionel Messi is set to return to full training for FC Barcelona next week after recovering from a broken toe and will make be ready to play against Racing Santander.
The Argentinian forward has been out of action since breaking his fifth metatarsal on November 12 and has been sorely missed by the Blaugrana.
Now he has completely recovered from the injury and is expected to go back to training almost fully fit on February 2.
Due to the nature of his absence, Messi has been able to keep his strength up and has been pencilled in to be included in the squad against Racing on February 11.
Under the watchful eye of coach Juanjo Brau, the 19-year-old has been building his fitness up in the club gymnasium and on the sidelines at first-team trainin sessions.
According to the Barça medical team, Messi need have no fear of a reoccurence of the injury as it was a bone and not a muscle problem.
After the draw against Real Betis on Wednesday evening, coach Frank Rijkaard made training at Barça voluntary on Thursday morning and 17 players turned up.
Despite the main focus being on keeping the session light as the players recovered from the game, three first team regulars opted to stay away.
Ronaldinho, who has attended less than a third of the training since the start of the season, Deco and Xavi were all missing.

Messi was wise to take his time to heal. Even though he's young the kind of injury he has is not something one want's to keep on having as I know so very well as I had the same type of injury in November as well & I'm still not rushing back to play. It's good news for Barca though that he's almost ready to come back as he's one of the best players in the game right now. It's always great to watch him play as he's really a top flight player in every way.

I don't know why do we have to wait wait til he gets better. I think we should let him recover slowly but surely. I think we should try the mexican boy who's 17 or 18 called Giovanni Dos Santos . I'm not sure if he's mexican or brasilian but he plays like messi and I think he's a little better. Give him a chance.... We all would like to see him play.. If not then send him here to France, I think PARIS Saint germain would love to have him...
