Barca falls to Valencia, now tied with Sevilla at top

Valencia, Spain (Sports Network) - Valencia vaulted into the top three with a 2-1 home win against leaders Barcelona on Sunday in Spanish La Liga action.

Goals by Miguel Angulo and David Silva just after the break gave the home squad the lead before Ronaldinho cut it in half in stoppage time on a free kick to close out the scoring.

Even with the loss Barcelona stays at the top of the table, but Sevilla is now tied with 46 points after beating Atletico Madrid 3-1, Sunday. Barcelona's goal differential is four goals better, giving it the slight edge.

Valencia jump over Real Madrid in the table with 42 points - same as Real - but are one goal better in the differential.

Frederic Kanoute opened the scoring for Sevilla in the 15th before Alves Daniel doubled the lead before the break. The team went up 3-0 after Kanoute's second tally in the 73rd minute before Atletico got one back in the 82nd by Ibanez Pablo.

Atletico are currently in fifth place with 39 points.

Also on Sunday, Athletic Bilbao blanked Getafe 2-0, Deportivo and Levante battled to a scoreless draw, Celta Vigo and Recreativo earned 1-0 victories over Osasuna and Real Sociedad, respectively, Espanyol topped Mallorca 3-1 and Racing dominated last placed Tarragona 4-1.

I knew Barca would have problems with this team David Silva is a force to deal with & is only going to get better. It's mixxed things up at the top of the table in Spain. It should get interesting from here on out in Spain.

Same here Ras, I actually thought it would be a draw. I was surprised and happy to see Valencia win. I hope they don't win again on Wednesday when they play Inter. It should be a great game to watch.

Wow cant believe Valencia beat Barca. ur right David Silva is an excellent player.

Did anybody see the Valencia/ Inter game in the Champions League Wednesday? What a war of goals that was back & fourth! That goal Davd Villa got was pure beauty. So powerful yet perfectly placed. The Inter keeper really had no chance as he had no time to react. That's how fast & powerful Villa's shot was.

A joy to watch. David Villa is spectacular. I wanted to see Inter win Ras. Hopefully Inter will beat them in the second leg. Forza Iter!

That was the best Champions League game this week it was like a gun fight non stop attacking back & fourth. David Villa is one of my favorite players in Europe right now as he's not scared to take risks & go for the big plays. That's what makes a great player & he's still young so I hope he stays healthy. I love Manchester United as you know but whoever wins the second leg game between Valencia & Inter I would like to see go all the way. Both these teams are really playing the best football in Champions League play at the moment.

Yo. Kip be quiet I am trying to blog... I am sorry my brother Kip is being to loud. I think this if flippin' stupid Barca lost. I am like so mad I could like skip the dance to night and just give Kip a lift on my bicycle into town to take his Rex-Kwon-Do lessons.

Good to see a tanlet at work. I can’t match that.
