Capello Admits Beckham Error
(Goal.com) - Fabio Capello admitted that his doubts about Beckham's commitment and intensity had evaporated in the face of the Englishman's efforts, and declared that the only intelligent thing to do was to correct past mistakes.
"We had doubts after he signed such an important contract with the American side," said Capello during a press conference.
"We had doubts if he would train with the same enthusiasm after that, but he has been working perfectly.
"He has also always had complete support from the rest of the team, and has behaved like a great professional, as a result of which, he now returns to the squad.
"I am counting on him until the end of the season. It all happended due to Beckham's hard work and his attitude."
Don Fabio clarified that the decision was his alone - taken in the absence of pressure from anyone else - and honestly admitted that he might have rushed into punishing the former England skipper.
"Only intelligent people correct their mistakes. People can err in what they say or what they do, and wise people correct themselves.
"I spoke with him a week ago, and again today. We are very happy and so is he."
Beckham will return to the Real Madrid squad after over a month, and for the first time since he signed his contract with Los Angeles Galaxy.

If Capello bends, & plays this punk Beckham I will lose all respect for him. Madrid were right in treating Beckham as they did as all along Beckham held out in talks with them just to make sure he secured the deal with the MLS. Beckham is not loyal it's all about the money for him & the childlike Americans' will see just how much of a snake he is once he lands in America to go make silly Disney movies. If Capello & Madrid cave into this failure than Capello will need to step down as part of being a leader is sometimes sticking to one's guns against something that might not be very popular in the publics eyes.

Yeah professional soccer has wilted into being a cheap soap opera with all the drama going on. Last month Beckham said the Madrid management would never have his respect. Now they are in love again. Madrid a month ago stood their ground saying they were focused on younger players & now they have done a turn about. Beckham runs Real Madrid & it's because of parasites like Beckham that Madrid has so many problems right now as these high priced prima donna players run & control the clubs now & call the shots. Capello better be a man with backbone & leave Beckham on the bench as being on the bench is the best position to play a loser like Beckham. If Capello plays Beckham now then he also needs to be given the boot!

This is not a good situation that Madrid find themselves in. Beckham is using the media as a way to pressure Capello & Madrid to let him play. Beckham's taken the club hostage through a clever media ploy & I have lost all respect for Beckham now. It's a dangerous game & cross roads Madrid find themselves at. If they give in & bend to public pressure created by Beckham then it's the begining of the end for professional Football clubs. A manager must always be a manager & as Sir Alex from Manchester United says : Quote ...No player is bigger than the club! This is what he told Beckham when he shipped him off to Madrid. If Beckham gets what he wants then other players are bound to follow suit. Madrid is a famous club with so much history with players much greater than Beckham could ever dream to be. A team is a team & a player is just that, a player & a manager is a manager & Capello must stand his ground dispite what Beckham or the media says.

Ras...I'm not surprised that Capello played him, I'm surprised that he actually said he erred in not playing him. He just lost a bit of credibility. And Ras, I think you and I both know that what Capello said after that game could be fatal in terms of coaching Real. How can the players take his word at face value now? Especially knowing that he has a hard a$$ repoutation. He let Beckham get the best of him , and I have to say I am quite disappointed. Actually, after reading some of the articles today, I think I'm disappointed in the state of soccer currently. Where the heck is it heading? Oh boy, time for an ice cold Perroni.

Capello is on his way out, good,i think he's as good as they say, he had great teams with great players, anyone could have done it,look at Mourinho with Porto(or Benfica,Idon't remember)or this Spalletti with AS Roma, these are coaches, capello jumps ship when things get ugly, ask Roma and Juve fans.

Giova I'm pretty disapointed myself as it's not a good situation. Beckham again went to cry to the media he makes me totally disgusted & gets away with it time after time. The only manager he's played for who put him in his place was Sir Alex at United. These players make so much money now & think they are larger than life. It leaves a cheap aftertaste on the game now. What's Perroni? Is it Italian beer? If so I'll have to try some. I always drink European beer & keep away from the American p - water.

I think Capello was forced to play Beckham. I think the call came from people higher up in the structure of the club. I think these higher ups want to cash in on all the Beckham buzz going on right now within our sport. It's ironic as Madrid hired Capello to run a tight ship as he's known not only as a great thinking tatical manager but also as a manager that will not put up with huge egos & players that can't give 100%. They have left him in a position where his hands are tied behind his back. I don't think noe can I believe that Capello folded & changed his mind. He has been leaned on & all this over a very average, overated player (Beckham) at best

Yes Ras you are right but I'm sure Capello had let Madrid know he wanted full control before he got there , or else he wouldn't have taken the job. Having said that, if calls were coming from the upper echelons I would politely tell them that this is not acceptable and resign. At least my integrity and credibility would still be intact. There are dozens of European clubs who would be happy to have Capello as a coach so it's not like he wouldn't be able to find another job. Sir Alex was smarter than Capello in almost the same situation. Capello made a big mistake. I think he did this to himself by not sticking to his guns. He's a joke now.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot--Perroni is an Italian beer. My favourite, along with Newcastle of England, Stella Artois and Heineken.

Giova I will have to try that. Where I live there is a very big Italian area here so I should be able to find it. I have had Stella Artois. It's good stuff. You might want to try Baltica #3. or Siberian Royal both are Russian beers I have been drinking since I first met my wife. That's one good thing about travel through Europe. There is tasty beer to be found in every country.

I think that Beckham is under contract so he should be playing ... you guys are just jealous about the money that he is making ... if he can make the team win then he should be on the field playing ... as long as he can help Real to win then he should be on the field un till is Contract runs out ... Let him play .. he is still a good player
