Conrad: Pro-Mexico Crowd No Prob
(Soccer365.com) - Fresh from a sterling show in a U.S. victory over Mexico, defender Jimmy Conrad has declared that he was actually glad to have a large portion of Wednesday’s crowd in Phoenix cheer against the hosts.
“If we are really going to test ourselves, these are the games the critics say we need to have,” said Conrad, who netted his first international goal for the winner.
“We are still three-and-a-half years away from a World Cup, but this is a great step in the right direction for Bob and for our young guys to get some valuable experience.”
The Kansas City star was nonchalant about his goal, a well-placed header from Landon Donovan’s 52nd minute corner kick.
“We’ve been working on set pieces and talked about them the last couple of days, and knew we had some dangerous guys,” stated Conrad. “We knew Landon could serve in some good balls.”
“I took a step to the near post and kind of ran the guy who was marking me into some traffic and Landon played a great ball - I just picked a good spot and put it away.”

Guess Jimbo wasn't hit by any of the beer cups thrown by the Mexico fans.

Yeah they should not sell beer or any beverages at all at any future Mexico games. I cringe thinking about that. Man, that would not be good to get hit with that!

Good; the US has to be prepared to be the underdog because until the teams get much better they always will be the underdog.

Kinda funny as once in a blue moon the US wins a game & it's a major event. Everyones jumping for joy. BIG DEAL! The US will always be the whipping boys of world soccer. Win the world cup & then maybe they will get some respect but until then no respect.

Yeah well you know it is a big deal for the US to win any game in soccer. So it's easy to understand why they, & the pro - US dweebs that post here get all excited & jump for joy. I mean, the team just stinks all across the board so these saps are taking advantage of coming out of a game with an actual win so sit back & do what I do which is have a good laugh, laughing at them.

Simmer down, the US once again defeated Mexico. Holy crap, can't somebody show some patriotism?!? You write it off like its not a big deal, when Mexico advances farther than the US in almost every world cup. Yeah it is a big deal. GO USA
Don't wake a sleeping giant
unless you want to see him get pissed
You've seen I'm quick with my feet
But you ain't seen the fist
It be a one hitter-quitter
than class dismissed
So you better think twice
Before you try to TREAD ON THIS.

Actually, Mick, that last part was an excerpt from Clint Dempsey's single Don't Tread On This and was used by nike for numerous US soccer commercials. Go to Nike 365 todays, they have the same thing posted under their Clint Dempsey article. That's right, the US does lose alot, so I'm always happy to see a win. And by the way, when was the last time ANY english speaking country won the World Cup, '66? Just saying, I think all the English talking teams need to get a move on.

Adam I bet you have pictures of Donovan hanging on your walls. Sicko! Your like a little kid that has watched too many cartoons & cant seperate fantasy from reality. The US will continue to lose more than they win. Soccer has been in America long enough where it should have caught on & the natioanl team should have improved much more than they have. The US will never be world champions, ever!

In case you forgot, Bobby, USA had a winning record and were the first to qualify in CONCACAF for the World Cup. The US already does win more than they lose, so stop flattering yourself. Second, soccer has not caught on because there are ethnocentric americans who see soccer as a foreign sport. Some of our best athletes will not choose soccer even if they are very good at it because it doesn't pay like the NFL or the NBA. Soccer hasn't caught on in America because so many other sports were here first. I also wouldn't say that the US will never win a World Cup. They showed that they can be a threat when they tied Italy, the world Champions, A MAN DOWN. And lastly, I think Landon Donovan is a selfish cry baby who couldn't take not being the main man in Europe, and so he came sobbing home to his mommy and a $900,000 contract with the Galaxy. I'm glad Bradley has not named him captain, because he shouldn't be, and never should have. No, I don't have a Donovan poster. As a matter of fact, I have a Brazilian flag on my wall. And by the way, who do you root for? Do I hear fairweather fan?

Yes they win games. In their own region. Once they get out into the big ocean of international soccer. They lose way way more than they ever win. I'm not from Argentina but I support their national team & also the Dutch. These are the teams I have always pulled for & unlike the US they both win way more games than the loose against much much tougher teams.

And I pull for Brazil. But I'm not going to disown my country just because they suck at soccer. Yes, I said it Bobby, they suck. Still rooting for them.

I'm sorry, no matter what ,you always cheer for your country, but to play at home and have the crowd against you is simply humiliating,it can only happen here, can you tell me where else in the world this can happen????if americans don't take the team seriously ,how can others.
