Deco: "Gerrard Is The Best"
(Goal.com) - Deco has heaped praise on Steven Gerrard ahead of Liverpool's visit to Camp Nou in the Champions League on Wednesday and warned of the danger posed by the Reds.
The Portuguese midfielder is well aware of the talent in Rafa Benítez's squad and has singled one player in particular who the Blaugrana will have to watch.
“Steven Gerrard is the best player in the Premier League,” Deco told The Times news paper.
“He has a lot of quality, moves around the field and attacks when he can.
I think he enjoys it at Liverpool, but if he wanted to play in Spain he could easily adapt.”
Reflecting on the similarities between playing Liverpool and Chelsea, Deco thinks that the Anfield club's coach may set his side out to cause more problems than the Blues did.
Without the antagonism that went with the build-up to the recent games against Jose Mourniho's side Barça could believe that things maybe easier for them, but Deco does not agree.
“Chelsea was a one off, but it is worse for us now because Benítez is Spanish and has such a good knowledge of the Spanish league and the players here,” Deco continued.
Frank Rijkaard's side go into the first leg on the back of a defeat against Valencia, a game in which Deco was sent off, but the 29-year-old does not believe that it will affect the Catalan team
“As soon as the game starts everything else will be forgotten,” he said. “The league is completely different because we know we can afford to lose there. In the Champions League we cannot.”

I'd have to agree with Deco. Gerrard is the best crunch time, money player in the premier league. I was very surprised with how he played in the world cup, I thought he would have contributed far more. Aside from that he is probably one of the players I enjoy watching the most. A true footballers footballer. He's the best in my book.

Of course,giova&nyc you are right. The boy is good and has been proving his consistency in playing over the years now. He alwys know how to control his squard on the pitch. Unfortunately I am giving out my comment after the game with the loser Barca, but before the champions league game i could really feel Barca to loose I watched them agaist valencia during the last la liga match.
Gaucho is finished!!!Is no longer strong as he used to be!What is wrong with him!
