Effenberg Praises Ballack's Self-Critical Approach
(Goal.com) - Former Bayern Munich skipper Stefan Effenberg is impressed with Michael Ballack admitting that he must improve his Chelsea form.
Ballack has failed to make his mark in the Premiership since his summer move.
Michael Essien, Claude Makelele and Frank Lampard have all outdone the former Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich man, and he has been honest to admit he has not done well enough.
"I'm still not dominant and noticeable enough and I am still not scoring enough goals," he had told Premiere.
"It takes a while to settle into a team. Now half a year has passed, and things have worked out reasonably well.
"But I hope that things will work a lot better in the future."
Former Bayern Munich skipper Stefen Effenberg, whole career with the Bavarian giants ended as a result of Ballack's arrival from Bayer Leverkusen, has been impressed with what he has heard.
"I take my hat off to him after these comments," Effenberg told Bild.
"He is very self-critical, and that is the first step to improvement.
"His presence on the pitch has been lacking until now, and also a little luck in finishing."

I hope Ballack sticks it out as just like others before him it takes at least a season to adjust to the mad pace of the Premiership. At least Ballack has more to show this season then that loser Sheva. First of all Chelsea play Ballack in the wrong position. He should be playing in the middle as thats his natural position on the pitch where he's strong. They should move the Englsih soccer poster boy Lampard out of the middle as he's got to be one of the most overated players in the Premiership. That's another reason the English nation team has so many problems in the middle as Lampard cramps up Gerrard's space. Get rid of Lampard & it will be much better in the middle for Chelsea & for England's national team.

Reggie, I agree. England has two players that do best roaming the middle of the field. I hate it when they move Gerrard out of position to the wing. If Gerrard's supposed to be a captain, let him play his game. Let him create and finish in the middle of the pitch. Lampard's had his chance internationally.
As for Ballack, he's having to adjust to a lot...the new league and a different position, as you say. But Lampard has 10 goals and 9 assists for his club in the Premiership alone. Not too bad. It's not his fault Chelsea went out and bought another international captain that plays at his spot. And Ballack signed up for this, so I don't feel too sorry for him either.

Yeah but you dont buy a world class center midfield player & use him as a right wing/half. Thats my point. Chelsea buy top players just because they can & they dont always use those players in their right positions. As for England's national team they need to root Lampard out & give the center to Stevie G. as he has already proven himself at the international level where Lampard has for the part wilted at the international level.
