Gerrard Calls For Confidence
(Goal.com) - The Reds skipper has asked his teammates to approach the Barcelona clash with confidence, and belief in their own abilities.
"We have got to go there with confidence," Gerrard told LFC - the club's magazine.
"We have to have belief in our ability and we must not spend too much time worrying about Barcelona.
"If you do that you will give yourself nightmares because they are a great side.
"We know what we are capable of and we know the performance we can come up with on the big occasion.
"We also know that whatever Barcelona say, they are going to be wary of us."
He also drew strength from coach Rafa Benitez's ability to mastermind such European games to perfection, something he did during his first season in charge. That Rafa knows Barca even better gave him further confidence.
"Rafa knows them and the Spanish league better than, anyone and that will make them a little bit wary when we go there," he said.
"We would love to go there and win, we are not a team that goes anywhere to play for a draw. But it would not be a bad result for us.
"A lot of our lads have plenty of experience of playing in the Camp Nou, so there is no fear factor. We have been waiting for this game for ages it seems, and now it is almost here we know that a positive result would set us up nicely when we bring them back to Anfield for the second-leg.
"We have had some great games against them in the past and I am sure this will be another one."

With all the team turmoil going on, Barca seems like they're ripe for the pickings. Although, I still would expect them to win. Did I mention that Italy is ranked #1 in the world? We haven't been on top since November 1993. Happy Valentines Day!

With or without Eto'o, Barca is still one of the most powerful teams in the world. The danger of their situation is not being focused on the game against Liverpool, but instead on the selfishness of Eto'o. Doesn't seem to affect their training though, Yahoo has pictures of Ronaldinho and Eto'o joking around with each other during a practice session. Forza Barca!
