Madrid Begin Rebuilding Plans
(Goal.com) - Real Madrid have begun to plan their summer rebuilding programme as Ramón Calderón wants to finally remove all vestiges of Florentino Pérez's reign.
The move has been brought forward with Fabio Capello's team falling behind in the league and facing an uphill task against a confident Bayern Munich side in the Champions League.
Despite bringing in several new faces following his election win last year, Calderón now has time to remould the squad to finally end the club's barren run.
The club supremo is due to hold a series of meetings with sporting director Predrag Mijatovic and B team boss Michel to discuss who should stay and who should go.
Along with several star names from world football, the club are also keen to promote from within and buy in some of the up-and-coming players from the Spanish game.
Alexis at Getafe is one name that has been strongly linked to the club after an impressive season in the centre of the defence with Bernd Schuster's side.
Following Miguel Torres up from the B team, Real Madrid Castilla, on a permanent basis is likely to be Iván De la Red and Javi García.
There is also plenty of money in the bank and the club is continuously linked with several major stars including Cristiano Ronaldo and Cesc Fabregas.
A more realistic proposition could be Chelsea's Arjen Robben, who Calderón promised to sign during his presidential campaign, or Marseill'e Franck Ribery.
Kaká could still be on the agenda, but it is likely that the club will only buy one expensive star, while preferring to bolster the squad with lower priced players.
