NBA MVP Wants Tottenham Chunk

(Soccer365.com) - Phoenix Suns superstar Steve Nash has gone on record with his desire to take part in any possible Tottenham takeover.

The Canadian’s brother plays USL soccer, and the two-time defending NBA MVP says he wants to take his involvement past that of a fan.

"If someone were to come in to buy Spurs, I would like to be involved," Nash told the Daily Star. "I suppose you would be talking about a consortium situation."

"As a fan, it appears to me that Spurs are quite profitable and Premiership football teams are obviously becoming a popular investment for businessmen from all over the world."

oh yes why not you ENGLISH saps .
lets see these americans go into italy
or spain and bid takeovers .
will never happen these are good and proud clubs thank god for italy and spain long live..

I agree with you Dr. 100% With the English & the Americans, their very much alike. They both love money more than anything else. Case in point, look at all the money they are making in Iraq so it's only natural they would saturate one anothers sport cultures. Anywhere theres a quick buck to make, these two are leading the pack.

How long before English Premier games have four quarters instead of two halves?

First of all, Steve Nash is Canadian.... He was actually born in Johannesburg before his parents moved the family to Canada.

What's more, his father is actually from Tottenham originally then later played football professionally in South Africa for a while. So the guy may play basketball professionally now, but he grew up rooting for Spurs with his father and was actually a pretty good footballer himself growing up. He actually trained with Spurs for a while before concentrating on bball.

His brother also plays football professionally and off and on for the Canadian national team. Granted he plays in the USL, which isn't a very high level by professional standards.

I hear the point about foreign investment in English football, but if you are going to have a foreign investor, Steve Nash is the kind you want. Roots in the club's town, ties to their youth system, comes from a footballing family, and is a professional athlete. At least he's not some know-nothing wealthy businessman that has no knowledge of or ties to the sport.

No more stinking Yanks in English football soiling the sport with their dirty greedy little yid hands!

Next up to bat: Donald Trump wants to buy Chelsea, so they can buy even more players!!

Hey, know-nothing wealthy businessman like Hicks and Gilette??

futbol is the greatest sportever i love the game but if you watch basketball steve nash is a good player and a nice person he just wants to have parsal ownership. didnt one guy from florida owned mufc

Yeah, Steve Nash is so nice he refused to play for the canadian national basketball team at the last world basketball championships. Real nice guy, very patriotic and responsible. Is this the kind of guy that should be the owner of a storied English soccer team? Just because you can pass a basketball doesn't mean you will be a good owner. I'm an Italian living in Canada so I know his story. I even met him at a Raptors game. Let him rot in Pheonix he has no business buying Tottenham. The team is too big for someone like him. What next? Lebron James buying Everton?

come on guys we are talking soccer, please for god sake stop talking about baseball and basketball this is a insult to soccer. thank you all for your cooperation.

Doctor actually everyone is talking about footbal (soccer) Everyones point is it's not in the best interest of a football club to be owned by somebody with little or no experience in the sport as it can be a conflict of interest. Giova what part of Canada do you live in? Believe it or not I have relatives in different parts of Canada & I've visited there a number of times.

Doc the peace maker, he's starting to sound like R0dney King! Da&& Doc, leave it alone. Let these people here say what they want! No NBA player owners in the English Premiership! They need to stay on their own side of the pond.

Toronto

I don't care if the devil him/herself owns a club as long as they infuse money to keep the standard at the highest level possible. When you go to the pitch or watch the match on TV your not cheering to Glazer, Gillette, any Britower or the lot. you are supporting the lads in the shirt you love. All this crying about ownership & greed. Put quaility players on the pitch & training ground dont plunder the club of cash & i could care less about the owner.

I have no love for Glazers but United has continued to be a top side, playing beatiful football most weeks. Support your lads and forget about the owners. JUst my humble opinion.

I'm an American and will not hesitate to say that the majority of us are out for money. However now having said that, it should not matter who owns a team or who has partial ownership. Just as long as the club fills the fans expectations then I do not see a problem with an American funding an EPL team or any team for that matter.

Russ.. it would be like an Indian or chinese guy buying the Boston Red Sox

They can have the whole bloody leauge

Wow! Great thniikng! JK
