Saviola And Del Piero Can't Play Together - Deschamps
(Goal.com) - The bianconeri coach prepared tomorrow's game against Vicenza, but when asked about the possible purchase of the Argentinean striker he said: "Him and Del Piero are incompatible!"
Tomorrow the Serie B starts again and Juve will try to continue their march toward Serie A promotion. The bianconeri will be playing at Vicenza, an "open doors" venue, but Didier Deschamps, coach of Juventus, does not seem too convinced about the new regulations: "Tomorrow we will be playing again. That's what's been decided and we will do so even though I think it's impossible that a decision was found in such a short time. It will be strange to see so many stadiums without spectators, who in football are indispensable. We will be facing a team who have won two consecutive games and thus have nothing to lose. We'll have to be very careful. Legrottaglie should be ready to play and if not Chiellini will play as he is also completely recovered."
The French coach then confirmed the impression had by many after seeing France's friendly game against Argentina, namely that Trezeguet seemed a bit tired: "Yes, it's true. Aside from that it's not easy to get back to the reality of Serie B after an international game with France. We will see."
Finally about the transfer market and the possible arrival of Saviola to Turin: "I've coached Saviola when he was at Monaco, I know him and what he is worth. I do have many doubts about his compatibility with Del Piero: I don't think it's possible to make them play together."

I've just lost any respect I had for Deschamps. How can he make a statement like that if they never played together? Look, I've seen teams go after a player to compliment one they already have--and they bust. Same thing, maybe he thinks they can't play together--but my money says you put Delpiero and Saviola on the same side and they will cause huge problems for the opposing team. Actually I'll go as far as saying it would be a magical combo.

Agreed, that combo would be fun to watch. I just think that sending Juve down to Serie B was a dumb punishment. Did they think that they wouldn't be promoted after a year? Real punishment would have been making them stay there for a couple of years, so eventually their stars grow tired of blowing everyone in Serie B out of the water, and transfer to better teams and more lucrative deals.
