Solskjaer Rubbishes Larsson Rivalry
(Goal.com) - Manchester united striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has rubbished reports of rivalry between him and Henrik Larsson.
Larsson has been hogging the second spot up front alongside Wayne Rooney over the last month, and Solskjaer, Luis Saha and now Alan Smith are all having to fight for the remnants.
But the Norwegian insists that there is no Scandinavian battle for supremacy at Old Trafford.
"Henrik and I are not rivals, but friends and team-mates," he told VG. "We both want to win. He has lifted the team and that has made me feel better as well.
"I've learned a lot from him. He knows how to do everything and that just proves that if you take care of your body, you can last a long time."
Speaking of Larsson again pipping him for the game against Tottenham, he said: "I would have been very sceptical if he hadn't had any play time at all. I am happy that he has had the opportunity to play a lot lately."
The Norwegian veteran also said he is happy with whatever role Sir Alex Ferguson chooses for him.
"I never question the manager's decisions," he told VG. "22 men can't always come to a game and, when I'm not supposed to play, I stay at home and that's just fine.
"Why should I be worried about often being on the bench? My situation hasn't changed since I joined the club. I am very comfortable with my role.
"Everybody gets to play an important role - it's not just about how many matches you get to play. It's important to stick together as we have one goal and that is to win the Premier League."

Ole is a class act & I think there is great team spirit in the United squad at the moment. Sir Alex might not be able to spend like Celsea but when he does he always seems to make wise choices. United are not doing too bad at the moment. This last match they had saw four different players find the net & that's a good sign. Sir Ales is not depending on just one or two players to score for him. He has many options now. I hope they can keep up the pace & win the Premiership. Go United!
