St. Louis Closer To MLS Dream
(Soccer365.com) - With St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts now in talks over Real Salt Lake, metro area lawyer Jeff Cooper says his group has never been nearer to fulfilling their goal of bringing an MLS franchise to the Gateway City.
The Utah club has failed to gain a new stadium deal in Sandy County, and the league has granted Checketts the right to shop around.
"I think there is a possibility," Cooper said told the St. Louis Post Dispatch. "We are closer than we've ever been to getting a stadium deal done and close enough that I feel very comfortable having extensive conversations with Real Salt Lake and the league about bringing a team here sooner rather than later."
"This is certainly the best opportunity so far,'' he stated. "He's run into so many walls in Salt Lake City they've almost forced him to sell the team."
"At this point, I don't think he wants to move out of Salt Lake City, but he and I have had good discussions that are ongoing," reported Cooper. "We've made significant progress."
"We're getting closer and closer with each day that passes."

from what I've read St. louis has a great soccer heritage, it could be a good move. Maybe develop another fan base like Chicago.
Better atmosphere, better matches, more fans coming can only be good for the game

I agree, I heard alot about St louis being a big soccer town, if I;m not mistaken there was an indoor team that drew 10 to 15,000 a game?
