Zach Could Still Return To Fire
(Soccer365.com) - Chicago coach Dave Sarachan has revealed that the door is not closed for longtime netminder Zach Thornton.
The Beast was, apart from a cup of coffee with Portuguese giants Benfica, an eight-year starter with the Fire until he ran out of contract at the end of last season.
The team now have Matt Pickens entrenched as the starter, but haven’t decided on a back-up from three candidates.
"I honestly believe he's still capable of being a first-line keeper," Sarachan told the Chicago Tribune. "I don't like seeing him not have a team."
"This has been a hard process, and even harder for him not working."

zach thornton is a great golie, no doubt about it. I think the only issue is his weight. If he lost some weight, he would be an even better keeper and he probably could go back to europe and dominate.
