Barça Dismiss Dida Link

(Goal.com) - FC Barcelona have dismissed speculation that they are interested in signing Dida from AC Milan to replace Víctor Valdés as the club's number one.

Txiki Begiristain, the Blaugran's technical secretary was adamant that the club had no plans to make a move for the Brazilian goalkeeper.

"We are not interested in Dida and we are very unhappy about these rumours," he said.

"He has never been on our agenda."

The reports surfaced after Valdés' error in the first leg of Barça's Champions League meeting with Liverpool when he dived over his own goal-line allowing the Reds to equalise.

That blunder was one of a series over the past few seasons that have seen question marks raised about the Catalan custodian's consistency.

In previous seasons, the club have been linked with a move to bolster their goalkeeping options but have so far remained faithful to Valdes.

Alber Jorquera is the number two at Camp Nou, but has only features regularly in the Copa Del Rey, or when Barça have a match in which they can afford to field second-strong players.

Dida is out of contract at the end of the current season with Milan, but it remains to be seen what his next move will be.
