Beckham: MLS Is No Vacation
(Soccer365.com) - Real Madrid superstar David Beckham has knocked back suggestions that his July move to the Los Angeles Galaxy is based on easier games to play.
The former England captain says many Europeans would be surprised how difficult it is to work competitive, physical MLS contests in often-oppressive summer temperatures.
"I don't think it's going to be that easy," Beckham stated. "The standards over there are high."
"Just because there's not much coverage of the MLS in Europe, I don't think the standards are as low as some people have been saying."
"I know physically I've got to be right and that's another reason why I wanted to do this challenge at the age I am now," he added.
"If I had gone over there in two, three or four years' time people would have said more what some are saying now - that it's all about the money."
Concluded Beckham, "It's not, it's a fresh challenge."

Real Madrid Super Star???? Beckham???? Come on! More like Real Madrid Master Bench Warmer! Just goes to show how misinformed a lot of Americans' are. They are waiting for this over paid sub as if he's God himself. Of course the MLS won't be an easy experience for Beckham. That's because he's not really a decent player. He's more or less weekend rec league material at best & like so many people have posted here he's going to fail & of course he's in it for the money! No question about that!

I think Beckham could care less if he ever steps on the field in the MLS. He's reached his goal & is walking away with a ton of money. Case closed! Next! Now all the MLS & major sponsors have to figure out is how they are going to make back all that money as well as a profit. Beckham is very aware he's anything but a world class player. He's very aware he has the pace of an old man & that most players' in the MLS really resent the deal he has been given but he doesn't care as he's laughing all the way to the bank. I think what he's really laughing about is how stupid Americans' are to pay a loser like him so much to come over & do next to nothing.

Well look, this entire Beckham media blitz hype will last one season at best then it will fade away just like everything in American culture. Americans' have a very short attention span & become bored very fast so after a year they will be screaming for the next new thing that's how it is there. I do agree with you though, Beckham could care less if he ever plays one minute in the MLS as he's got his money & that's what's really important to him. Even though I have no respect for the guy you still have to hand it to him. He's one of the worst players at the professional level in the world & now he's set to be the highest paid player in the world. What's funny is anyone playing in Europe has to play so many games each year & none of them come close to Beckham pay wise & he will only have to play a fraction of the games they do & he's still pulling in a ton of money more than any of them will ever get. 250 million dollar package for a bench warming sub! Goes to show how foolish Americans' are with their money.

I don't like David Beckham becasuse he is annoying duh the M.L.S. is physical it is becasue no one likes him and they want to hurt him because his is such a gosh darn prettyboy.

David Beckham makes $90 for every second he steps onto a pitch on a M.L.S. match. It is stupid L.A. could have gone and gotten good young players from other areas for 1/5 of the amount they paid and are paying for David Beckham.

David Beckham represents Englands failure to feild a competitive national team. He's moving to the USA because he knows his dream of winning a world cup or Euro are not going to happen. Teams like France, Italy, Portugal and Germany are just in another league compared to England. They should'nt even have won in 1966. The game against Germany was suspect. Anyhow I'm glad he's going to the US. Maybe this will bring closure and some reality to the sorry state of the English. you can go ahead and bash me now, but you know what? I don't care. And you know why I don't care? I don't care because I have another 3 1/2 years of celebrating the most celebrated trophy in the history of sport...for the fourth time. Yes! The feeling of extacy when Grosso scored that last goal...you will never have the chance to feel. Dancing in the streets after that sweet victory is a memory that I will take to the grave. Say what you will. That's all you have....words. I've got 4 trophys and memories of partying all night for a week. Let the words of envy commence.

The Italian National Team has 4 Trophys' yes! & well deserved, but you don't. You haven't played for them so stop attaching yourself to them. I do agree with you on all counts about Beckham though. He's not a good player, he's not an average player, he's not even a player period! He's a marketing image & all the stupid Americans' getting caught up in all this Beckham hype don't even understand he's been riding the bench in Spain for the best part of the last two years. I don't agree with you though about the quality of play from the English national team as they do have talent it's just ot being used in a proper manner at this point in time. No way you can tell me that players' like Rooney, Gerrard, Cole, Lennon, & John Terry are not as good as players' from Spain, Italy, Germany or from where ever Just like it will take time for Italy's professional league to climb back up to be on par with La Liga & the Premiership it will also take time for England's national program to be able to compete on a realistic level. Your comment about England's world cup victory being suspect is totally idiotic. Hurst scored three goals in that game & that sure wasn't suspect, it was skill. You have now been educated on facts' of reality.

I only post under one name here, but it's ok you can call me what you like. Back to seriousness. The names spivey mentioned are excellent players but their flaews outweigh their positives. Rooneys temper is a major downfall when it comes to his overall package as a player, Gerrard is one of the best in the world as long as he's not playing in the most important tournament in the world, Cole and Lennon are streaky at best--their inconsistency is just as overbearing as their talent. The only player I'll agree with you on this subject would be John Terry who I call the wall. He must of been Italian in his previous life the way he plays on the back line. As for that game against Germany, if you look at the replay of that game you'll know what I mean. There was one goal which was very suspect. Your right I didn't play for them, but I do play professional soccer and as an Italian I am associated with the win. I watched every qualifying game, their first round games, knockout stage and the icing on the cake--the final. England might have a chance in cricket or rugby. Football victories are enjoyed usually by only 3 or 4 countries, you know the best in the world--Italy, Brazil, Germany and Argentina.

Ok giova/drago/montana. Cough it up. Let's have your full name, D.O.B. & what team, or teams you have played for as it will be easy to find out the truth. If you can't provide this information then nobody here will ever take you serious so now's your chance to lay it on the line! As for being associated with the 2006 world champion Italian national team unless you were an actual player in that squad your not associated with them PERIOD! As for the comment you made about Rooney, Gerrard,Cole, & Lennon unless you can walk the walk & play better than any of them your comments are worthless. As for Terry being Italian in his past life. I DONT THINK SO! He's too nobel of a person & as a defender unlike the Italian cry baby born liar Materazzi. Now! Give us your professional stats! If you can't then you've made a fool of yourself!

Congratulations on winning the world cup, but lets talk about club teams. Tell me, would you rather watch an Seria A match, in which the stands are rarely full because of crazy hooligans whose only purpose it seems is to fight with opposing fans and cost their clubs money, or an epl match, in which the stadiums are always full of fans who are passionate yet controlled in there way of showing it. And another thing; you can't tell me you would rather go to a Seria A match where most teams mentality is to take what seams like hours to get the ball forward, rather than epl match where football is at its best and the transition from defense to attack happens in a blink of an eye. Now the England national didn't play like that over the summer because they had a Swedish guy for a coach. Now, they got a proper english coach who actually knows how to play proper football

Somebody here made a claim about being a professional soccer player. His claim is related to ...Soccer. Others, which includes myself asked who he plays for which is again ... as you mentioned yourself related to soccer. What's wrong with that?
Posted by: Scotty | March 23, 2007 05:07 PM
There is nothing wrong with discussing it - in one place. It is not OK to junk the entire forum by posting about it on every article using several different user names. That is harassing another poster.
