Riquelme Makes Villarreal Pledge
(Soccer365.com) - Despite a fallout with the board that facilitated his loan out to Boca Juniors, ace playmaker Juan Román Riquelme says he will only return to Europe for Villarreal.
"I know it is going to be hard for me to ever wear the Villarreal shirt again," he conceded. "If the opposite were true, they would not have loaned me to Boca Juniors."
"I have a house there and things went really well for me over there."
"I received the recognition of the whole of Europe, thanks to Villarreal," declared Riquelme. "And that's why if I don't play for Villarreal, then I won't play for any other European side."

What? What did I just read? Now Don Juan want's to go back to Spain? After all that pleading he did with Villarreal to go back to Argentina? Give me a break! Hey! No disrespect as Juan's a great player & chances are one of the best playmakers in the sport hands' down but he's not to sharp upstairs when it comes to basic day to day life tasks! I'm just a kid but ..GEEZ! I have more street sense than this guy. I kinda wonder if he's related to Anna Nicole Smith as they sure have a lot in common in the brains department.

He should have just toughed it out in Spain as now many known European clubs might consider him as a risky investment as you never really know when he might want to bolt. I'm in agreement with you, he is a great player. I just get the impression he fold's under any kind of real pressure. Some people just can't handle it.

If you have ever watched him it seem's the only time he's at ease is when he's playing soccer. Outside of the game he's seem's uncomfortable. He hates dealing with the press & even seem's very on edge around fan's but coming from Argentina myself on that point I can't really blame him as fans' in my country are plain crazy & over the top. Almost as crazy as the fans' in Italy are now. When one is a great player as Juan is your always expected to produce greatness all the time. That's a huge amount of pressure to be under & some people fold under from it. Juan is one of the most gifted player's we have had in Argentina since Maradona. As I said playing the game is Juan's natural element, there are no problems there. It's everything that's attached to the game & outside of it he has a hard time dealing with.

I just think no matter if it's the national team he's playing for or a club team as soon as the pressure builds & he starts to feel it he buckles. Some people are just like that. It's a shame as he has great talent he just is uncomfortable with the expectations placed upon him by others.

Poor Juan cannot take being in the publics' eye or the pressure. He's a fine player it's just on an emotional level he's fragile.
