Ronaldinho Going Nowhere
(Goal.com) - FC Barcelona have dismissed reports linking Ronaldinho with a summer move to AC Milan and reiterated that none of the major stars will be leaving Camp Nou.
Speculation has grown in recent weeks that there maybe a shake-up at the Catalan club following the end of the current campaign with several players rumoured to be prepared to move on.
Barça vice-president, Ferrán Soriano, has moved to dispel any thoughts of an imminent cull, however, and laughed off reports of Ronaldinho switching to Serie A.
“All rumours about Ronaldinho’s transfer to Milan are a joke,” Soriano told Radio Catalunya.
“Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani stated that the news was not true and that they are not interested in buying Ronaldinho,” added the Nou Camp official.
“In any case, we are not a club which is keen on selling and we believe that none of our players want to leave."
Reports have constantly surfaced as Barça have struggled to reproduce the form that saw them sweep to the domestic title and the Champions League last season.
Both Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto'o have been linked with a change of clubs with the Brazilian having endured some harsh criticism for his fitness levels and inconsistent performances this term.
Talks between Joan Laporta, Txiki Begiristain and Frank Rijkaard over next season's squad are on-going, but the Dutch coach has already stated that there will not be any major re-structuring.
In Italy, AC Milan have also distanced themselves from the Blaugrana's star names as they do not want to be seen attempting to unsettle any players at the club.
“I don’t want to put pressure on anyone, Ronaldinho still has three years on his contract and I don’t think there are any problems with the club,” Galliano was quoted as sayinh.
“If he decides to change he knows that Milan are here, ready to welcome him, but I do not want another Kaka situation."

I'm gonna say the same thing I said about Messi. Why would he want to leave Spain? It fits his game perfectly, and the money is just as good in England. And no, Barcelona is not a loser outfit, you just don't like them. La Liga is the second best league in the world, and as I recall, they beat an English team last year in the CL final. I'm disappointed about this year, Barca just didn't look hungry. Look for PSV to fly under the radar, they're going to beat Liverpool.

I agree adam Barca just didnt look hungry this year. There is no way Ronaldinho is leavign Barca. He likes it there. He plays well there. And has a good team around him. Why would he want to leave? Messi wont leave either. I think adam summed that up. As for Eto'o. Well it does seem that he wants to leave, but is he complaning for more money or so that the team will get him the ball more or is it because he wants to leave. Personally i think hes gone after this year.

Everybody said Barcelona would roll over Liverpool too & that didn't happen. PSV is a good side but so is Liverpool. The Pool has quality players so it's up in the air who will come out on top in the encounter.

The Bucked toothed one has shown nothing in almost a year. Nothing! Starting with the world cup he might as well not have shown up as he just got pushed around & looked lost & was out classed by every team he played against. Now regular play in Spain, same thing & then we have the champions league, again nothing! All he's good for is doing tricks with the ball. That's nothing special as my dog does better tricks with a soccer ball than he does.

Okay, you call leading La Liga in goals nothing? Did you see the bike? Ronaldinho has been great this year, but since he was out of this world last year, everyone says he's not doing well. He's doing great!!
Posted by: Adam S | March 16, 2007 03:24 PM
Are you kidding? The guy's not doing much at all. If he's doing so good why are Barcelona not one of the final eight in Champions League play? Why didn't Brazil win the world cup?
Posted by: Tobias | March 16, 2007 04:50 PM
Not news; it makes no sense to go to AC Milan, their going nowhere fast and Barca needs him.
Posted by: Tesoro | March 16, 2007 06:17 PM
Ronaldinho is a great player. One of the best in the world. His play on the field has much benefitted barca. He doesnt just to tricks with the ball. His field vision and expertise passing top notch. He free kicks are unmatched and finishing skills and amazing. Just because Ronaldinho's team got knocked out early doesnt mean he isnt a good player. Yes he struggles at times but who doesnt?
Posted by: RcFutbolFreak | March 16, 2007 06:18 PM
Hey Freak here I was on the post to the other story giving you praise & then here you kick me where it hurts with this verbal drabble! Anyways Don's say Buck Toothed Ronnies free kicks are unmatched as your liable to make David Beckham cry!
Posted by: Spivey Point | March 17, 2007 03:57 AM
Ur rite his free kicks arent unmatched i guess i got a little carried away.
Posted by: RcFutbolFreak | March 17, 2007 02:47 PM
Freak you are forgiven! If you want to see a top level player that can do it all as well as take great free kicks look no further than Valencia's David Villa. He takes set kicks with such force but also at the same he is able to place them. If you think about it it's difficult to do both at once as most players when they strike the ball very hard lose control.
Posted by: Spivey Point | March 17, 2007 03:49 PM
Ronaldinho is a Great player. He can play better than David Beckham that's all I know. & as far as free kicks beckham is not the only one who kicks free kicks!!!.

There's lots of talk,about Ronaldinho joining Ronaldo at Milan,oh boy....that will be a sight,Gattuso and Pirlo feeding kaka,Ronaldo & ronaldinho.........say no more.
Posted by: wolfen | March 17, 2007 07:06 PM
I agree with R.C. The only thing is I think Ronaldinho is too much of a wild card for my taste. Sometimes he just does some things that are just stupid. (sometimes they work though such as the under the wall free kick) When he is on the top of his game he is a great player and I like to watch him play.
Posted by: Keeeper King | March 17, 2007 07:58 PM
That would be sweeet! Wolfen then the only other player you need is Gianluigi Buffon in Goal.
Posted by: Keeeper King | March 17, 2007 07:59 PM
Italy would be the only other option for Ronnie as far as playing club ball in Europe. There is no way he could get away with playing the show pony trick style in England. If he ever played in England he would pick up quite a few injuries that's for sure.
Posted by: Spivey Point | March 18, 2007 05:04 AM
You're exactly right Spivey if he goes to England he will get hurt due to the physical part of the English game he is not built to play in a highly physical game. Also he would not be able to go to Germany because of this. Maybe he could come to America and dribble Beckham all over the pitch.
Posted by: Keeeper King | March 18, 2007 08:39 AM
Ronaldinho would excel anywhere, but would have a hard time in england due to the style of play. Ronnie isnt used to the kinda run and gun soccer of the english players. There is no point for Ronaldinho to go anywhere. He gets paid alot. Hes on a good team. And the fans love him. Well most of the fans.
Posted by: RcFutbolFreak | March 18, 2007 02:12 PM
Your wrong Freak, he would not excel in England & chances are lke King mentioned he would have a rough ride in Germany as well. Very few players from South America ever do well in England as the South American players like to hold the ball & in England if you do that too often you end up hurt.

Yeah the English game is rough but some of you guys make it seem like they go on the feild with swords and sheilds. Gimme a break there are a lot of foreign players who are not so big in stature that thrive in the English league. Ronaldinho has the legs of a horse. Whoever beleives he would not benefit any team in England is a flaming idiot. And whoever beleives that he would get bowled over and injured at every turn is also ignorant. I also happen to think that he will go to Italy. Where there's smoke there's fire. I've heard big rumours before that were flat out denied only to see the deal go through. For example Beckham going from Man U to Real...everyone was denying it on both sides and then it happened. Things are a little tense on Barca right now and don't be surprised if Ronaldinho would like to play with his countrymen Ronaldo and Kaka. His brother and manager has also expressed this possibilty. If this does happen look for Milan to go undefeated next year. Like Wolfen said imagine Pirlo and Gattuso feeding that trio upfront. It would be a sight to behold everytime they stepped onto the pitch together. I think Ronaldinho would look great in red and black stripes.

Ronnie would not fare well in England at all. Players' from Europe & South America that have played their club ball in Spain & Italy & then go to England do not for the most part fare too well & end up going back where they came from. Materazzi is a perfect example. He's always been a bully & an enforcer in Italy but when he played in England he was the one being pushed around & he was in way over his head. Thats why he went crying back to Italy & he's not the one one England's Premiership sent packing.

The only place Ronnie could play now besides Brazil is Italy. He couldn't handle the pace of the EPL. He could however go to America, to the MLS if a club there could come up with a huge amount of money. He could do his tricks all day there in that kick the can of a league.

You can try hammering all you want ladies, people on this site who know about soccer know that I know what I,m talking about. I don't mind you kids talking your trash, its actually comical--jerry springer like.

So ur saying that Ronaldinho a player who is in the top five players in the world wouldnt do well against the less skilled english. Thats bizarre! Even though the English style of play is rougher doesnt mean a guy like Ronnie wouldnt do well. He would have the best ball skills in england by far and be able to score more often due to the weaker defenses. Ronnie would excel wherever he might be. No, hes not the best player ever and yes he has weaknesses but he would do well in England.
Posted by: RcFutbolFreak | March 19, 2007 03:38 PM
Ronaldinho would do good in any league. He would be one of the top 3 footballers in any league. I don't understand how people think he wouldn't excel in the English league. Could you imagine Ronaldinho playing alongside Rooney and Christiano. Hows that for a visual. The reality is that the English league is not too rough or good for Ronaldinho, and if anyone beleives that, they would be ignorant in the subject of football. This is the reality of this subject.
Posted by: giova * * * * | March 19, 2007 08:39 PM
Thanks giova. I really dont understand why people think Ronnie wouldnt excel in the English leagues. I mean he (in my opinion) is the most skilled player with the ball then anybody in the world (rite now).
Posted by: RcFutbolFreak | March 19, 2007 08:58 PM
I also think Ronaldinho would do pretty well in any league just because of his skill but I think he would not do as well in the E.P.L. because of just the physicallness which is a lot more than the Spanish Premira. That is why Freddy Adu was thinking about going to Spain instead of England.
Posted by: Keeeper King | March 19, 2007 09:49 PM
Ronnie wouldn't fair well in England as the pace is too fast period! Ronnie's game is based on having time on the ball to allow him to do what he wants. In the Premiership he wouldn't be afforded that time he's used to. It wouldn't be a good fit for him or any player that plays like him.
Posted by: Scotty | March 20, 2007 12:07 AM
Scotty the point you made will go right over these knuckle heads' heads'. Your right Ronnie's game & style is not suited for England's game. It's just like taking a top player from the EPL & putting him in Spain & Italy. Chances are he will have a very difficult time as it's a totally different game.
Posted by: Jody & Mike Pearson | March 20, 2007 12:13 AM
Ronnie does not play well against fast moving teams. Look what happened to Ronnie when Brazil played France in the world cup . He was lost out there & marked out of the game. Brazil had one single shot on goal for the entire game & even an aging, balding, headbutting Zidane made Ronnie look stupid when they ever went head to head & France is not a quick paced team like say, Argentina or a Premiership club team. Yes Ronnie needs to play in an easier league like what is found in Spain & Italy as those leagues suit his style.
Posted by: Carlsberg | March 20, 2007 12:25 AM
Giova, since you push yourself off as being the soccer.com soccer expert here, you know, jack of all trades, master of nothing! & England's such a low level league to play in then explain to us why Materazzi failed so bad there? He was punked everywhere he went in that league & reduced to tears like a big baby when he sat on the sidelines & had the Everton fan's boo him for not acting like a man. He's a product of that great Italian league you always rave about.

with all other things behind, think about the culture differences between ronaldinho's native brazil and England. Huge difference. At least Spain is somewhat like Brazil.

Some of you pro-Ronnie crowd do not take enough time to read the post here of the people you don't like before firing back. Scroll up & read the post about Ronnie's style & game as it's a perfect example & I agree with it. Ronnie's game & style is based on having time on the ball. It's a slower pace than say what is found in England. Anytime regardless if it's with club or national team when Ronnie comes up against a fast moving team he has problems & that's what the point was on the other post left here. Playing in England would be difficult for Ronnie as it's a much faster pace & tighter man to man marking. It's not about who's better than who it's about A player's sytle being able to adapt in a league that he's not used to. giova/drago answer the question> Where did you play professional soccer at? Come up with a good one now as we know you like to impress the kids' here.

Hey guys. I think Ronaldinho is the best player in the world, i think he would do outstanding on AC MIlan with Ronaldo, Kaka, and Cafu, and many others. Though Brazil did not do good at the world cup i think Ronaldinho is still great. His footwork is amazingly skillful and his flair could beat evryone even Cristiano. Though Barca got knocked out early i still think he's great. And if he goes on AC Milan He'll do great there too. It does not matter where Ronaldinho play's He's an awsome outstanding player!
