Sevilla keeps pace
Seville, Spain (Sports Network) - The Spanish La liga's Sevilla was able to keep pace with leaders Barcelona with a 2-0 win over Celta Vigo on Sunday.
Frederic Kanoute scored his 19th goal of the season just after the break and a stoppage time goal from Alexander Kerzhakov made sure the team ended the weekend still tied with Barca at the top of the La Liga table.
Kanoute scored his goal on a penalty shot after a Gustavo Lopez handball in the box.
On Kerzhakov's goal, he took a pass from Enzo Maresca and cooly deposited it in the back of the net.
In the rest of the La Liga fixtures on Sunday, Deportivo topped Getafe 2-0, Espanyol and Levante tied at one, Zaragoza edged Atletico 1-0, Real Sociedad managed a 1-1 tied with Villarreal, and Real madrid beat Gimnastic 2-0.
