Sevilla miss chance to take top spot

Tarragona, Spain (Sports Network) - Sevilla stayed in second place in La Liga - tied with Barcelona in points but the defending champions have a greater goal differential - after a devastating 1-0 loss to bottom feeder Gimnastic Sunday.

But Javier Portillo's goal was the difference in the game as the lowly home side earned just its five win of the season.

The teams battled to a scoreless draw through the first 75 minutes of the game before Portilla's header off a Jose Calvo cross.

In other La Liga action on Sunday, last-placed Real Sociedad topped Mallorca 3-1, Atletico Madrid blanked 2-0, and games between Celta Vigo and Athletic, Getafe and Recreativo, Racing and Espanyol, Real Betis and Real Zaragoza, and Osasuna and Valencia ended in 1-1 draws.

Talk about screwing up & blowing it! I'd like to see somebody besides Barca & Madrid take the title.

Yeah well since Barca & Madrid were pretty much spanked out of the Champions League They will be out to win the title in Spain. I also would like to see somebody else win it though. I cant stand either club or their spoiled players.

That’s more than senslibe! That’s a great post!
