Chivas USA spoils Toronto's inaugural opener
Carson, CA (Sports Network) - Toronto FC opened its inaugural season with a 2-0 loss at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., against CD Chivas USA on Saturday night thanks to goals from Ante Razov and Sacha Kljestan.
Chivas goaltender Brad Guzan made several outstanding saves, including four spectacular ones in the first half to give his team a chance before Razov took a feed from Maykel Galindo to score the 99th goal of his MLS career in the 35th minute.
Kljestan added an insurance goal late in the second half as he drove at the Toronto defense before unleashing a fierce shot far post past goalkeeper Greg Sutton to make the score 2-0. It was Kljestan's first goal in his MLS career.
Chivas held on early thanks to Guzan before turning it on in the game. The home team struck 17 shots in the game, including 12 on goal to Toronto's five.
It doesn't get any easier for Toronto as it faces Eastern power New England - who were 1-0 losers at Chicago on Saturday - next week in Foxborough.

To be expected. Since when has any team from Canada been able to play soccer? They can't even qualify to get into the world cup so at MLS club level they will never amount to much. Still it must have been funny to see the look on the Toronto players' faces when they rolled up to the Home Depot Center right in the middle of that ghetto Carson, California. Glad to see Chivas off to a good start. Only thing better would be if they destroy the Galaxy when Beckham is finally there.

I agree totally carlsberg. Except Chivas md wont beat Galaxy. With the arrival of Beckham ( even though hes crap he will still contribute on the MLS level) and with donavon Chivas wont have the firepower to overcome them.

I don't agree with you. Ante Razov is better than Beckham & Donovan combined. He scores more goals than any other player in the MLS. Beckham will choke in this league as he's choked everywhere he's been.

Beckham is going to flop like a limp hotdog that has fallen out of it's bun onto the pavement. Donovan is another worthless example of a soccer player. He's like a dumb blonde. Beckham will come, collect his money, & then ......GONE! The only good thing happening with the MLS is Blanco playing in the league. At least he can actually play & he will draw bigger numbers to games than Beckham.

Carlsberg to tell u the truth i hate the way beckham and donavon play soccer. I just think Ante Razov wont be enough for the Chivas to beat Galaxy. As i hate to say it Beckham will contribute to the Galaxy team. Because its the sucky MLS.

Strike 1: it's a little diosppainting that the Lions are starting to fall apart. It was exciting and nerve-wracking to see them play so well, but they play the Packers on Thursday hopefully they don't decide to get good again.Strike 2: the only reason Beckham would have given recognition to MLS is that he's semi-attractive. His soccer skills had nothing to do with it.Strike 3: college sports is synonymous with University of Wisconsin in my book. Otherwise, not a lot of interest anywhere else.
