Convey’s Key Is Staying Level
(Soccer365.com) - Reading attacker Bobby Convey claims an important lesson learned from manager Steve Coppell has helped him grow as a player: avoid emotional peaks and valleys.
The U.S. ace, out for the season with a knee injury, spent nearly a year playing for the second team before becoming a key member of the Royals during their promotion season.
Convey struggled again in adapting to the Premiership, but says this too shall pass.
"I guess the main thing I learned from Coppell is that soccer is just a game and that you always need to keep a level head," he told ESPN. "Whether you succeed or fail, tomorrow is another day."
"He is very level-headed and understands that players have lives and he realizes there is a lot of pressure to perform well every week."
