Johnson Getting Confidence Help
(Soccer365.com) - Fresh from a goal and two assists in their season opening victory over D.C. United, Kansas City striker Eddie Johnson has revealed that he is working with a sports psychologist to regain top form.
"He's a mental and conditioning coach," the U.S. international told the Chicago Tribune. "A lot of athletes get on cloud nine one minute and then face adversity the next - I hit adversity."
"He put together highlights of me for me to realize what I can do and how I've done it. - it's supposed to motivate me, but it all comes down to me."
"The team is looking for me to do big things," noted Johnson. "The only person who can stop me is me."
The weekend goal snapped a personal drought that had dragged on since last May, including both MLS and USMNT contests.
"It helped my confidence," said Johnson. " I want to prove I can still score."

At least it's good to see EJ have a bit of a revival. He's young, so there's plenty of time to right his game, but he's been effectively absent for so long, it's good to see him get over the hump and have a good outing again. I'd love to see a return of the kid that scored a hat trick in 17 minutes and 6 goals in his first 7 games with the nats.
