Mourinho's Agent In Secret Madrid Talks
(Goal.com) - Real Madrid have been told by José Mourinho's agent that he would be willing to negotiate with them about taking over as coach in the summer, according to a report in Spain.
The Chelsea boss shares the same agent as Cristiano Ronaldo and it has now come to light that during the now well-publicised meeting in London last week, the manager's future was also discussed, sports daily AS claim.
Jorge Mendes represents both Mourinho and Ronaldo and brought up the subject of who would replace Fabio Capello when talking with Predrag Mijatovic' right-hand man, Franco Baldini.
The pair held talks before the first leg of the Blues' Champions League quarter final against Valencia last week with the first reports indicating that the talks were solely about the Manchester United forward.
Now it appears that Mendes was keen to sound out Baldini about the chances of Mourinho moving to the club too.
AS states that Mendes beleives Mourinho's main ambition is return to Spanish football as a proven coach and is prepared to leave Chelsea, despite his public recognition of his current contract.
The breakdown in the relationship with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has left the former Porto trainer wanting a move and Madrid would be the perfect destination.
Mourinho is desperate to prove himself in la Primera, as his last role there was as a translator at FC Barcelona - a job that he is still taunted about when he returns to Camp Nou.
Baldini explained to Mendes that Madrid the idea was to install Bernd Schuster as coach, after a verbal agreement was reached for him to take over on July 1.
But Mendes believes that the Spanish giants could lure both Ronaldo and Mourinho as a package and is hopeful he will be able to hold more talks on the matter in the coming weeks.
