Palermo Sack Guidolin
(Goal.com) - It has just been confirmed that Palermo have sacked coach Francesco Guidolin.
Club president Mourizio Zamparini had earlier given the coach a lease of life after the 3-4 defeat to Parma, suggesting: "I considered sacking him 10 games ago, but instead I listened to others who were telling me to keep him.
"Now, I will not make any coaching changes. We will continue like this until the end of the season."
However, it seems that the pressure of yet another defeat, one that has all but extinguished any hopes of playing in the Champions League despite a superb start to the season, has told.
Having failed to win for 11 games, Palermo now lie 6th, 7 points behing 4th placed Milan.
Another defeat could see even their Uefa Cup berth come under serious threat, which Fiorentina and Udinese lurking over their shoulders.
Of course, a big reason for their downfall has been talisman Amauri's injury, but the president was left with little choice after the latest defeat saw even Guidolin's strongest backers give in.
It is not yet clear who will replace him, ahead of their clash against Livorno.
