Rooney - We're Better Now

(Soccer365.com) - Wayne Rooney claims ManYoo are a much better side than the one that lost to AC Milan two years ago.

That was the last time United lost a European tie at Old Trafford - going down 1-0 in both legs - but Rooney says he and United have since improved.

"Since those games I've learnt a lot from playing with good players around me," he told United Review. "But it also helps just playing Champions League football regularly.

"Back then it was my first year at United and I was finding my feet in a lot of ways. But now I am settled and playing much better football. I just hope I can help us do well and help the team get through.

"We're a better team than two years ago. Then we missed too many chances, but I'm confident we'll take our chances tonight."

As they prepare for their semi-final first leg, United are certainly stronger in attack than two years ago, but the well-documented problems lie in defence, with Sir Alex Ferguson's whole first-choice backline missing.

Nah nah nah Rooney you guys are out! Kaka Kaka Kaka!

Speak to soon much Pablo? Yes, Kaka was brilliant in the first half, but your boy Rooney matched him the 2nd half.

That was a scrapper of a game. United's first two goals were ugly but still they were goals. Kaka's two were text book but the final goal scored by Rooney was a bullet! That was a hard fought game but dispite all the injury problems United have they showed real fighting spirit. Now if they can go into the second game & score just one & hold Kaka at bay they will be onto the final! Kaka was the only real threat up front for Milan. It was if the other offensive players' they have were not even out there. Milan's keeper really kept them in the game & came up with some big saves. If it was any other keeper United would have put in at least two more.

ROO-NEY! ROO-NEY! ROO-NEY! Scoreboard Pablo. You have to play 90 minutes to beat United, not 45.

hahaha well said goast. yes kaka was amazing, but hes going to need a little more help in the second leg if milan wants to eliminate man u.

Experience counts alot in international games, Milan is obviosly not Roma, Man U will need a superb game, flowless to go through,Milan has a good solid squad and at home they'll be tough, it's anyone's game but I think who ever wins this one will take it all.

Kaka played very well but he was pretty much all the offense Milan could muster. On defense I was also surprised as Milan really didn't impress me. I think Rooney as shown he's one of the best in the game & Ronaldo played so well as usual. United need to find a way to keep Kaka under wraps as he moves at the speed of light & has great touch but Milan on the other hand has to find a way to stop United up front because let's face it. United has more players' that can score than Milan does. I don't know if Milan was having an off game but it seems only Kaka came alive up front for them. As for United. They didn't do so bad when you consider how many injuries they are carrying at the moment. Their first two goals were scrappy but Rooney's last goal was on the same level of Kaka's United played with a lot of heart that's for sure!

Good points Stan. Fair points as well. It's interesting for me to read everyones' post here as we all have are likes & dislikes with various teams, styles, ect ... What it all boils down to for me is a win or a loss. If a team wins' it doesen't really matter how pretty their win was or how they went about getting a win. As long as that team had played fair & didn't cheat that's all that really matters & goals are just that, goals. Milan's Kaka scored some beautiful goals today & Milan's keeper impressed me. As for United their first two goals were just pure grit. As for the last one that Rooney put away it was as beautiful as Kaka's. Rooney catche's a lot of bad raps' but he's still a great player & being so young he's at the begining of his career. I have to give United respect at this moment with all the injuries they have they still come out fighting. It was a good game to watch. Too bad for Kaka that he didn't have enough support up front. He carried Milan's offense that's for sure.

This introduces a pleasingly rtaoinal point of view.
