Vučinić Looking For Lyon Repeat
(Goal.com) - Mirko Vučinić believes that Roma can take inspiration from their away day performance in the last round as they head for Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.
The Montenegrin striker netted the winner in the first leg against the Red Devils last week and is confident that the Italians can complete the job in the second game.
With United needing score at least one goal, Vučinić is well aware that Roma's hosts will look to press forward from the very start of the game.
"In the second leg against Lyon we showed we have character and a winning mentality. We won 2-0 and I don't see why we can't do the same against United," he said.
"It will be tough game for us at Old Trafford, but we have the advantage and Manchester will have to go on the attack from the first minute.
"We are very dangerous on the counterattack, so I believe that we can score at least one goal."
Vučinić, 23, is spending the season on loan at Roma from Serie B outfit Lecce and knows that he may not feature for long in the game against Manchester United, despite his efforts in the previous game.
"I have not played much in the last few games, just five or ten minutes, so I was surprised when the coach gave me the last 30 minutes against United," he continued.
"However, from my first touch of the ball I could tell that I could do something big.
"I know Spalletti can count on me. I will do my best whether I play for five minutes or 90."
With Paul Scholes suspended and Nemanja Vidić out injured, Vučinić believes that Roma have a better chance of knocking out United.
"Vidić is one of the best defenders in the world," he said. "I am sorry he is injured and I wish him a speedy recovery but his absence gives us a better chance of scoring at Old Trafford. Scholes is a very experienced midfielder and he will be hard to replace."
