Barca Agony After Copa Exit

(Soccer365.com) - Barcelona are still struggling to come to terms with their cup semi-final humiliation after a 4-0 hiding at the hands of Getafe sent them crashing out of the competition.

The Catalan giants took a 5-2 lead with them from the first leg at the Nou Camp and looked to be on course to face Sevilla in the final, but instead found themselves on the receiving end of one of the greatest comebacks the Copa del Rey has seen as two goals in each half gave the minnows a 6-5 aggregate victory.

And neither Barcelona captain Carlos Puyol nor coach Frank Rijkaard could explain their side's capitulation.

"It's difficult to say anything. I feel furious and helpless," Puyol said after the game.

"We were all looking forward to the final but in football until the final whistle, you can't say anything.

"Getafe were better. We had a disastrous match. We went there to keep control of the match but in Barca we don't know how to hold on to a result. They saw that they could beat us and we gave them life."

Puyol also apologised to the Barcelona fans.

"We all had great hopes and today we let them down," he said.

Rijkaard added: "This is one of the hardest nights I've ever experienced. I had the feeling of being incapable of doing anything. We haven't got any excuses. We failed to react from the very first minute and we suffered a lot.

"We left a very bad impression and I feel very bad, like all the players. We couldn't do anything. We were incapable. It's been a really hard night for all of us and a very tough blow."
