Frings Turns Down Juventus
(Goal.com) - Werder Bremen midfielder Torsten Frings has turned down an offer from Juventus to stay on at the club, the player has confirmed.
A move to Turin seemed to be almost done and dusted for the German international, but it seems that loyalty has won the battle.
Frings has declared that his feelings for Werder have made it impossible for him to leave, forcing him to turn down a great offer from the Old Lady.
"I had a great offer from Juventus but for me Werder are an affair of the heart," he told the club's official website, putting an end to the speculation.
Klaus Allofs, the club's sporting director, who has all along wanted to hang on to players such as Frings and Klose, was pleased with the show of loyalty.
"We gave Torsten the chance to have a good look at the offer from Turin because we feel it is important that our players want to play for Bremen with all their heart," he said.
"Torsten has made his decision to stay with us. We have been able to keep an excellent player."
The news will come as a shock to Juventus, as they were working on the basis that they have covered one key position with a world class player. Options there still are, but the Turin giants' rebuilding has taken a step backwards.
