Bayern Munich Seal 25 Million Ribery Deal
(Goal.com) - Olympique Marseille have officially confirmed that Franck Ribery will be plying his trade for Bayern Munich next season.
Marseille president Pape Diouf has confirmed the transfer of Frank Ribery to Bayern Munich in a 25 million euro deal.
Believe it or not, the fee is a new Bundesliga record. He will earn 4 million euros per year.
"The transaction will be concluded on Wednesday and Ribery will move to Munich in order to pass the medical and sign his contract on Thursday," Diouf told L'Equipe.
He also spoke about the possibility of Barcelona's Ludovic Giuly joining Marseille as a replacement.
"Giuly to replace Ribery? For the moment it is just a wish from the Barcelona player," he said.
"We have to know under what conditions the deal could be struck.
"I am clarifying today, that we won't waste too much money on salaries. We won't make the same errors as we did after Drogba's transfer."

Wow. Luca Toni and Ribery to go with Podolski, Makaay, Schweinsteiger, van Bommel, etc... Munich will be a tough team to defend and a fun team to watch next season.

I agree yoyo. I think if they come up against some Italian teams in the CL it will feel weird for Toni to roll over them as I think Bayern will be rolling over a lot of teams next year. Not just in German league play but abroad as well!

amen.....Bayern just got a great Ribery( a work horse) and one of the best strikers around in Toni, yes they will be tough next year.

And now the word is they're adding Klose as well. Bayern is making everyone forget that they lost Owen Hargreaves.

Yeah. I think the little poll on the side of this site here is wrong. It asks which team will be the biggest player in the transfer market. So far it's Bayern but theyre not even listed as a choice. Get it right people.

doesn't matter, Munich wont be in the champions league next season just so you know but as for the other 2, I wouldn't bet on anyone else. And although I'm a little surprised that Bayern payed so much for Ribery, I do think he was necessary buy

Hey bredred, you don't think Ribery was necessary? Ribery will help fill the hole that Owen Hargreaves left when he decided to move to Manchester. Ribery may look to get forward more than Hargreaves, who is more defensive-minded, but they are both tireless workers and active all over the field.
And you're right, Bayern slipped this past season and finished 4th, so no Champions League. I guess that's why they seem so motivated to spend money and get back in the hunt. I know it'd be a consolation prize for a club like Bayern, but they have to be favorites for next year's UEFA cup trophy.
