Bradley Compliments Central Duo
(Soccer365.com) - U.S. coach Bob Bradley has hinted he is beginning to prefer that young Americans Abroad Michael Bradley and Benny Feilhaber in the middle of the park after the duo again showed the right stuff in Saturday’s win over China.
The boss’ son – expected to inherit Paul Bosvelt’s place at Heerenveen – solidified matters after a shaky start with his cool play, while the flashier Hamburg prospect notched his first international goal and assist in the 4-1 victory.
“They complement each other,” papa Bradley told USSoccer.com.
“I felt our ability to be on top of loose balls, connect a little faster, and moved a little bit better (after a mid-game tactical switch to pair the players in central midfield.”

First off, China did not look like a good team at all. That being said, it was nice to see a bunch of younger players getting experience and playing like they wanted to score 10 goals. Too often in the past, the US will kick it around against weaker teams on their way to an uninspired 1-0 win. It was good to see them attack and look hungry. I'd like to see Nyugen get some more playing time. Kljestan looked comfortable getting his first cap as well. Keep bringing the youth. Maybe even Jozy Altidore.
Feilhaber looked good. He didn't seem to struggle on the compact field in San Jose. Bradley had his moments. I really like how he looks to hit the seams with middle to long range passes, particularly the long cutting pass that sprang Beasley and led to a penalty early on. Bradley still seems a little out of control at times though. But he's only 19, so experience will help.
The US attack actually looked creative at times on Saturday, for the first time in... I don't know, ever? We'll see how they do against Guatemala and El Salvador, who will drop 9 or 10 guys back into defense most of the match.
