Del Piero Warns Against Trezeguet, Camoranesi Exit

(Goal.com) - Juventus skipper Alessandro Del Piero believes that the Bianconeri could be in deen trouble if David Trezeguet and Mauro Camoranesi leave the club.

The Turin giants owe much to the duo for their success, as much in Serie A as Serie B, but it is looking increasingly likely that the associations will come to an end now.

Camoranesi has been denied the 3m-a-season contract he desires, while Trezeguet has refused to extend on current terms as he heads into the final year of his deal.

"If Trezeguet and Camoranesi were to leave then we would be in big trouble," warned Del Piero, speaking to Sportweek.

"I have my own idea on how I would plan the next transfer campaign," he continued, speaking of summer strategy.

"If it is true that we have a 50m budget, then I would target two or three players who would allow us to improve our quality, rather than spend the entire amount on one big name."

He also expressed his satisfaction with Gigi Buffon staying on:

"His contract extension was a delicate issue and his decision to stay filled us with enthusiasm."

As for the time-scale for a return to the top, he admitted that five years - as has been mentioned in some sections - was too long: "We can’t afford to take that long."

Of course, he himself will have retired by then!

The "Old Lady" needs to honor those who stuck with them when they went down. These 2 need to stay. they can always add players.

It would be a huge mistake for Juve to let these guys go. In terms of quality they would be decreased quite a bit, but it would be nothing compared to the damage the team's management and future would receive. Imagine their image if they went the cheap rout and got rid of these two world class players after they played a full season in a second division league loyally because of a scandal; that they had nothing to do with (and the players are the ones who pay the price by playing second tier) It would make me as a fan lose a lot of respect for them and as a player from the outside, I don't think oher players would be to keen on going to Juve. They will fall in stature, lose their influence and integrity, all to save some money. It's my opinion that this one small situation or move will have an impact on the team for years to come. Hopefully Juve will make the right decision and pony up some coins to keep both of these players. For me, it wouldn't even have been a choice, it would be one right answer and thats it. Anyways, lates....... integrity, I would not want

I agree that it would suck for Juve not to show loyalty to the guys who stayed loyal to them in the 2nd division. but maybe they're showing their true colors. I mean, I'm not really surprised. Juve already got caught match fixing. if that's not a sign that the management is more interested in business than integrity, what is? It's a shame, there's no need for it, b/c they should be a great club. btw, they signed Iaquinta so I really don't see Trezeguet staying...

i dont see who trezeguet would leave to because in my opinion he is not in his prime and would not sign with a bigger club than juve. i understand camoranesi leaving considering he is still playing his best soccer and with all the bad attention around juve it is casting a shadow above the great talent at the club.

Trezeguet is a phenominal player. Once he gets back to playing top flight ball (wether it be Juve or some other team won't matter)he will be a force to be reckoned with. Anybody who thinks Trezeguet is passed his prime and cannot be dangerous, is crazy. So what, he had an off year. I don't think he was motivated to play his best ball in a second division when Trezeguet is considered a top flight #1.

Speaking of Italian soccer both Inter Milan & AC Milan are under fire for false bookkeeping, hmmm, Ya don't say! Reports have stated the Championship title might be taken from Inter Milan & something about AC Milan might pay a high price as well. I'm not sure who rules over professional club soccer at the world level but those folks need to get busy & do their job & clean up the bad elements that can be found in Italian soccer just like they did with English soccer. They need to root out all the crooks in the game no matter where they are.

It would be a huge mistake to let either of these guys go;along with Buffon,Del Piero and Nedved these guys hung with Juve during the dark days, they should be rewarded for their loyalty - which is quite uncommon in modern sports.

Thats the nature of the game now Tesoro. Clubs always changing players & managers. Nobody stays at any one club for very long. Just when you get used to seeing some good players & maybe a good manager here & there at a club the next thing you know everybody has moved on. Days of old it seems like all the great clubs had their own personality now all these top dollar players & high profile managers are just hired guns & its like that in all the big leagues.
