Donovan Wary Of El Tricolor
(Soccer365.com) - U.S. National Team star Landon Donovan wasn’t exactly sure how to feel about Mexico’s Gold Cup loss to Honduras, and figures that it may even make their arch rivals more dangerous as the tourney wears on.
A loss or draw against Panama on Wednesday would suddenly see the tournament’s co-favorites meeting up in the quarterfinals.
"I was happy they lost," Donovan told the Boston Globe of his initial impulse. "Then I thought 'oh my God, we could be playing them Saturday' - that would be awesome, I would love it."
Of course, the Galaxy man quickly wandered from feeling Schadenfreude to concern.
"Mexico is struggling, but they could win four in a row," warned Donovan. "You can't count them out, but they need to sort something out - they've got to win."

Donovan has every right to be concerned. The nastiness the tricolor has shown over the past few months does not go unnoticed. Remember the cheap shot on Eddie johnson taken by the keeper in the Artizona game after Donovan scored. Blanco's elbow in the gold cup is another example of the nastiness and some might say "sore loser" mentality that creeps in to tricolor side.

The Tricolor looked mediocre again last night. The Mexicans better be wary of Costa Rica and Honduras.
As for Donovan, I that he's worrying about Panama now, although they'll be missing two players because of red cards late in the Mexico match.

Let's be honest.
I love my stars and stripes, but yesterday the USA played a much more dominant and explosive Mexican Tricolor team. We won in the end with a penalty and an awesome goal later in the 2nd...No doubting that one, but in the end if we want to compete in world competitions we must recognize that we need a world class trainer and players. Donavon is over-rated and lacks real talent. That's why he plays in the LA Galaxy and not the Real Madrid. Face it folks, let's reorganize the USA team and work toward a World Cup title!
