Lopez Using Youth Experiences
(Soccer365.com) - U.S. Women’s National Team defender Stephanie Lopez believes her experience captaining the Under-20 side to a fourth place world finish will help her when this fall’s Women’s World Cup arrived.
The youngster is a candidate to help spell fullback Heather Mitts, who will miss the tourney with a knee injury.
“It is great to have had that experience and I know what that world stage is like, even though it was not at the full national team level,” Lopez told USSoccer.com.
“Having those experiences gives me a lot of confidence to go into a tight game and tight situations like a World Cup.”
“I know the World Cup is going to be a different level of play,” she added. “But I think the past couple of years have really prepared me for it.”
