United In Surprise Anelka Link

(Goal.com) - Free spending Manchester United have been linked with an unlikely move for much-travelled Bolton Wanderers forward Nicola Anelka.

After signing Owen Hargreaves, Anderson and Nani this week it seems the Premiership champions have not finished yet and are looking to bulster their attacking options with the Frenchman, who has previously played in the Premeirship for Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal.

The Daily Mirror claims that Sir Alex Ferguson is looking at adding The Frenchman to his talented squad for £8m, which is what Bolton paid Fenerbahce for the player last summer.

After taking a while to settle he scored 13 goals for the Trotters and impressed, but following the departure of Sam Allardyce he may now see his future away from the Reebok Stadium.

However, it seems he would be far from certain of landing a first team place at Old Trafford.

During a busy career Anelka has also played for Real Madrid and Paris St Germain, but if reports are true he could be set for his eighth different club and his fifth in England.

what a move it was; getting both anderson and Nani. I thought Hargreeves would be enough, but to grab two of the best young stars in the world, it is likely that united are destined for great things in the near future. I don't think it would be a wise choice however for united to try to get Anelka. True he did have a great season at bolton, but I just think that united should not give up on Torres, Berbatov, or Eto'o so easily.

There is a critical shortage of informative arctiles like this.
