Werder Bremen Demand Podolski For Klose
(Goal.com) - Werder Bremen have ruffled a few feathers in Bavaria by asking for Lukas Podolski in exchange for Miroslav Klose.
With all the pieces falling into place in the great rebuilding project at Bayern, one piece still seems to be eluding them - Klose.
Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Uli Hoeneß, and Ottmar Hitzfeld have all stated their desire to have Klose at Bayern this season itself, rather than have to wait until his contract at Werder expires in 2008.
Klose himself has "told them plainly that he wants to join Bayern," reported Hoeneß.
After Klose made his feelings clear, Bayern made their move, and Hoeneß has confirmed that there is an offer for Werder to consider: "Bremen received a firm offer from us 10 days ago. That is fair enough."
Bayern are reported to have offered €10 million. However Bremen consider this offer too low, and have up brought the possibility of a player exchange with Lukas Podolski in the reckoning.
Bayern have immediately refused the demand. "Podolski will never be given away," quipped Hoeneß who also described talk of a loan move to Bochum for Podolski as an 'April Fools trick'.
It appears the discussions between Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich have reached a temporary standstill as a result. However, they may be getting back into gear now, given a recent approach from Lyon.

i think it would be ridiculous for munich to get klose as they have already been busy in the transfer market. and what was bremen thiking about asking munich to trade podolski or even get him on loan. i dont think there will be any more negotiations between these two clubs for the rest of the summer

Nothing against Klose as he's a great player but Bayern have already picked up enough strikers up front. They need to shore up the midfield now & get a real center half out there to act as the puppet master like Ballack did. They also need to think about finding a very good young keeper to secure that position for the future & the long run.

More drama than a C rated soap opera!

It's hard not to be tempted by the idea of a Luca Toni/Miroslav Klose striker tandem. All due respect to Podolski, he's not a #1 striker.

Bayern will not give up podolski no matter what, i think if they cannot come to terms with bremen on money alone then they will just have to wait for klose till the end of his contract. But klose would be a great addition right now, they need alot fo goals
