Arena Pleads Altidore Patience
(Soccer365.com) - New York boss Bruce Arena has continued his efforts to downplay fast Josmer Altidore success, saying that the teen strike prodigy needs room to grow without heavy expectations on his shoulders.
The 17-year old, currently busy with the U.S. at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup, caused quite a stir form some of his early season MLS shows.
"He's a confident kid," conceded Arena to the Sun Sentinel. "Jozy has a long way to go, and he's not yet established as a player."
"He knows that there are a lot of areas that he needs to get better in."
"The problem we have in this country is that whenever there is a young player who shows some talent, we already want to put huge expectations on him," he asserted. "We're going to give him time to develop."
