'Nats Go Winless in Copa
(Soccer365.com) The United States wrapped up their participation in the 2007 Copa America Thursday with a 1-0 loss to Colombia.
Having been eliminated Wednesday evening due to other results, the U.S. and Colombia both took the field with aspirations of ending the tournament on a high note.
Colombia took to the scoresheet in the 16th minute on a goal by Jaime Castrillon. Twenty minutes later, it looked like Colombia would extend their lead after Brad Guzan was whistled in the box after attempting to prevent a Hugo Rodallega breakaway. Guzan was up to the task however, foiling Rodallega's spot kick, giving the U.S. new life. For the remainder of the game, the United States put pressure on the Colombians, but were unable to find net.
With just minutes remaining, goalkeeper Robinson Zapata drew his second yellow card for delay of game, forcing Rodallega to assume his place between the posts after Colombia had already used all of its allotted substitutions. The U.S. was unable to convert however, and the match ended 1-0.

Kopper, I agree that the US should have had more pride in their Copa America results. I hope it doesn't affect whether or not they'll get invited back. All in all, I think this was a wasted opportunity for the US.

Did we really expect more?

Not really, with the team that the US sent down there.

Why didn't they send most of their starters?

Because Bob Bradley was trying to mix it up.

I think the U.S. didn't send the "A-team" so players wouldn't miss so much of the MLS season. Big mistake. Players would get better from the COPA environment, not the sub par MLS.
