Keller Signs With Fulham
(Soccer365.com) After some time in limbo, Kasey Keller signed with Fulham today. The U.S. national teamer has spent the last 16 years in Europe but was looking for the right fit before signing another contract.
“It’s fantastic to be back in the Premiership after a couple of year’s absence, and when the opportunity to join Fulham came up it was an exciting proposition that didn’t take too much consideration,” the Washington native said on the official Fulham website.
“I know that Fulham already has two quality goalkeepers, but I would like to think that I can add something to the squad in terms of its options, and I am really enthusiastic about this new challenge.”
The goalkeeper joins Brian McBride, Carlos Bocanegra and Clint Dempsey at the London side.
This afternoon Lawrie Sanchez said:
‘I’m delighted that Kasey has joined us and I’m sure that he’ll be a great addition to the squad,” manager Lawrie Sanchez said of the signing.
“Obviously with Antti being injured at the Emirates it was important that we added some strength and depth in that area and Kasey is a proven professional with impeccable international credentials. It’s vital that we have cover in all areas throughout the squad, and I think he will be a valuable asset to us over the course of the season.”
Keller has experience in the English leagues first joining Millwall in 1989 before a move to Leicester City. He then spent time in Spain with La Liga outfit Rayo Vallecano before returning to Tottenham.
Keller last played for Borussia Mönchengladbach in the German Bundesliga before the side was relegated last season.
