Mexico To Face Brazil And China

(Soccer365.com) The Federación Mexicana de Futbol, in conjunction with Soccer United Marketing, announced the final two stops on the Mexican National Team U.S. 2007 Tour today.

On Wednesday, September 12, 2007, Mexico will face the world’s No. 1 ranked team and five-time World Cup champion, Brazil, at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA (8:00 p.m. ET; TV: Telemundo; Radio: Futbol de Primera). The Sept. 12 match falls on an official FIFA international fixture date and Brazil is expected to call up its world-reknown superstars such as Ronaldinho, Kaka and Robinho.

A month later, Mexico will wrap up their U.S. Tour 2007 on Wednesday, October 17, as they face the emerging Chinese National Team at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum (8:00 p.m. PT).

Sept. 12 – Mexico vs. Brazil (Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, MA)

The encounter between the two squads will mark the 34th meeting between Mexico and Brazil. Although the five-time World Cup champion, Brazil, has dominated “el Tri” with 19 wins, six ties and nine loses in more than 50 years of rivalry, Mexico has defeated Brazil in its last two encounters, the last of which was during this past summer’s Copa America, where Mexico was the sole country to defeat the eventual champions.

The last time that the Mexican National Team played in Foxboro was back in 1997, when they faced the United States National Team in a 2-2 tie in a World Cup qualifier.

Oct. 17 – Mexico vs. China (LA Memorial Coliseum, Los Angeles, CA)

The encounter between the two squads will mark only the third meeting between Mexico and China. “El Tricolor” has been victorious the two previous matches (3-2 in March 1987 in Mexico; 3-0 in November 1993 in San Diego, Calif.)

The last time that the Mexican National Team played in Southern California was in May 2006, when Mexico defeated Venezuela in front of more than 50,000 fans at Pasadena’s Rose Bowl.
