Terry Eager To Conquer Europe

(Soccer365.com) Captain John Terry insists it would be "really disappointing" if Chelsea fail to overcome their "mental" block and win the Champions League this season.

The Blues have been knocked out in the semi-finals of Europe's top club competition by Liverpool in two of the last three seasons, despite going into both ties as favourites.

And while the England skipper believes the focus for this season must be on reclaiming the Barclays Premier League crown from Manchester United, he believes his side still have everything to prove in Europe.

"It has been frustrating coming so close," he told ESPN.

"The main priority for me is the Premier League. But to go one step further to the Champions League final and lift that trophy, with the players we have, I feel that it's time that we have to do that.

"If we miss out on winning the Champions League with this squad of player, it's going to be really disappointing."

Terry added: "I think sometimes it can be a mental problem - it's more mental than anything else."

Chelsea's European hopes would be boosted by the arrival of Sevilla's Brazilian defender Daniel Alves who has begged his Spanish employers for the chance to speak with Jose Mourinho.

"It is a unique opportunity, a magnificent opportunity to improve and I am not thinking about letting it pass," he said.

"I just want to take advantage of what is happening in my life. Out of respect, Sevilla have to listen to the offer and weigh it up.

"My agent has spent a long time on the possibility of me moving to Chelsea. They are interested in me.

"I have behaved well in the last four and a half years and I demand that Sevilla also behave well when it comes to examining an offer."

Sevilla face AEK Athens in a Champions League qualifier next week and, were Alves to play for the Spaniards, it would greatly reduce his chances of a transfer.
