Beasley Scores In Rangers Win
(Soccer365.com) DaMarcus Beasley provided an assist and scored as Rangers notched one of their most impressive European wins in history with a 3-0 win over Lyon at the Stade Gerland on Tuesday night.
“We had seen in previous games away from home that Beasley had done well for us because he has that little bit of pace,” manager Walter Smith said of the American Abroad.
The Scottish side grabbed a surprising lead in the 23rd minute after Beasley cross was headed home by Lee McCulloch.
Daniel Cousin went on to add a second goal three minutes into the second half and Beasley finished matters off in the 53rd minute.
After receiving a long ball on the left side from Cousin, Beasley took advantage of a slight hesitation from Remy Vercourte to send the 2,000 or so visiting fans into a frenzy.
Smith said: "We couldn't have imagined that we would win so emphatically. I had to pinch myself when the third goal went in but it was a fantastic night.”
