Thorrington Shoots Down Galaxy
(Soccer365.com) Late sub John Thorrington bagged a deft chip in the waning moments to give Chicago momentum heading into the postseason with a 1-0 victory over visiting Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon.
The midfielder broke in alone and took his time to set up the lob shot to beat Joe Cannon, who had kept Galaxy playoff hopes alive with nine saves, several of them big stops.
The LA netminder produced fine saves on C.J. Brown, Chad Barrett, Cuauhtemoc Blanco and Wilman Conde to keep his side in with a chance, but the Galaxy could only produce one shot on goal.
