England vs USA Match In The Works
(Soccer365.com) The Football Association are close to sealing an agreement for a friendly between England and the USA at Wembley on May 28.
It is understood that talks with US soccer chiefs have reached an advanced stage and that the match is highly likely to take place.
The FA are also expected to play a friendly in the Caribbean against Trinidad and Tobago in early June.
A friendly against the USA would inevitably lead to hopes that David Beckham would play for England in order to boost interest in the match in the States.
If Beckham is not picked by England manager Fabio Capello for the friendly against France in Paris later this month then the May date would be the next opportunity for the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder to win his 100th cap.
Capello said recently that Beckham would be part of his plans if he is match fit and playing well.
The France game takes place before the start of the Major League Soccer season so Beckham will only have had pre-season matches under his belt.
The last time England played the USA was in a friendly in Chicago in May 2005.
Kieran Richardson, now at Sunderland, scored both goals for England and Clint Dempsey, currently playing for Fulham, netted for the home side.

Yes, that would be a nice match. I was wondering though, if Beckham had dual citizenship would he play for the US or for England on his international side.

Beckham can't and won't play for the US. He's not a US citizen -- even if he was, he's got 99 caps for England, which rules him out for any other country.
I'm more interested in seeing if the US can make some noise in Wembley.

There are enough US players in the Premiership to make this interesting to the Brits, and Beckham wearing Three Lions for the 100th time will put this game in the FA history books. We'll get clobbered, but it will be something special: USA at Wembley!

I think USA might get away with a tie. A win would require a world class play. we all know they have it in them (2002 world cup: usa 3 portugal 2 or the usa-brazil game last summer. they wont get clobbered though. England has a solid squad, but they are not that great. I'll tell you one thing, Beckham is not going to make the difference in the game.
