U.S. Out Guns Poland

(Soccer365.com) The United States men’s national team defeated Poland 3-0 at Wisla Stadium on Wednesday.

Carlos Bocanegra, Oguchi Onyewu, and Eddie Lewis all scored off of set pieces in the victory, the second consecutive win for the U.S. on European soil.

The Red, White and Blue broke on top in the 11th minute when Bocanegra headed Landon Donovan’s free kick service just inside the right post and past a diving Artur Boruc. The Fulham products only challenge was perfectly placing the ball as the Polish defense did a horrible job of marking.

Donovan assisted on the second goal in the 35th minute as well. The Los Angeles Galaxy player sent a corner into the box and Onyewu put a strong header past Boruc. The defense again was very porous leaving the Standard Liege defenders primary task to put the ball on goal.

Eddie Lewis replaced Donovan in the second half and quickly went to work adding to the scoreline. Lewis curled his left footed free kick over the wall and into the corner in the 75th minute to finish off the Poland and the scoring.
