Speedy Sven takes Mexico hot-seat
(Soccer365.com) Former Manchester City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has been named new coach of Mexico just days after leaving his Eastlands post.
The appointment of the former England boss was announced at a media conference led by the Mexican Football Federation (Femexfut) president Justino Compean.
The Committee of the owners of the 18 top-flight teams unanimously approved the 60-year-old Swede as the successor to Hugo Sanchez, who was sacked in March for failing to guide the Under-23 side to the Olympics.
Eriksson, speaking in Spanish, said: "I want to thank the Mexican Football Federation for their confidence and support.
"Our goal is (to qualify to) the 2010 World Cup and try to do it better than in the past."

Wow. That sucks for me and all the US fans. Mexico will be gooood. Sven worked miracles at Man City this last season. From relegation threatened to Europe contenders, and now he's in Mexico??? Bradley better step up his game.

ou know nothing Snaves. Sven ruined the english national team and he ruined Man City too. He made them spend all kinds of money and they were almost relegated this year. Thats why he left. Now hes gonna ruin the mexican team. So its good for your country dummy.

Actually Man City finished in the top half of the table for the first time in 3 years, and nowhere near relegation. It's completely overblown to say Sven ruined City. Now, England on the other hand... I won't argue with you there. As for Sven and Mexico - it's not exactly a match made in heaven, but it'll be interesting.
